Burkina Faso: lawyer Guy-Hervé Kam arrested in Ouagadougou for unknown reasons

Another unexplained arrest in Burkina Faso.

After the politician Ablassé Ouédraogo and the human rights defender, Daouda Diallo, the lawyer Guy-Hervé Kam was arrested on the evening of Wednesday January 24 in Ouagadougou for no apparent reason.

His political movement accuses the transitional authorities of being behind this “ 

umpteenth extrajudicial kidnapping

 ”.

Wednesday evening, a little before midnight at Ouagadougou airport, Mr. Guy-Hervé Kam was arrested by two men in civilian clothes as he disembarked from the Air Burkina flight from Bobo-Dioulasso.

The individuals then took him into an unmarked car.

No grounds for arrest

It was only an hour later that his family received a call from the arrested man.

his own cell phone, he warned his relatives and in particular his wife that he was at National Security and that he was well, without being able to say what the reason for his arrest was.

Since then, there has been no news from this tenor of the Burkinabe bar, a former member of Balai Citoyen,

who has since become national coordinator of the Sens political movement

.

This movement published, Thursday, January 25 in the morning, a press release retracing the circumstances of this arrest and which calls on the transitional authorities, whom it accuses of being behind this “ 

umpteenth extrajudicial kidnapping

 ”.

According to him, the authorities “ 

have the obligation to protect citizens throughout the national territory

 ”.

As such, the political movement holds the Transition authorities responsible for this situation and urges them to release

the lawyer

without delay .

According to our information, a delegation made up of relatives or members of his party must go to National Security during the day to try to contact an authority or Guy-Hervé Kam himself.
