All regions in the country except Kalmar need to increase the number of available care places in the short term, according to a report from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

And the fact that there is no acute care space shortage in Region Kalmar County is evident as there is rarely overcrowding.

When SVT Småland contacts the director of health and medical care on January 15, he confirms just that.

Normal care location mode

- Right now we have no overcrowding at the hospital in Kalmar, none in Västervik and one in Oskarshamn.

The availability of care places looks normal.

The number of available care places changes depending on the staffing situation and is therefore not constant, but generally there is no shortage in the Kalmar region.

The phasing out of temporary staff affects "marginally"

Just like in the Kronoberg region, the phasing out of rental personnel is ongoing and by the end of the year, Region Kalmar County has a goal that only two percent of personnel costs should go to rental personnel, something that is seen as rental dependency.

- It has affected the care site situation a little, but quite marginally, because we have succeeded quite well in terms of recruitment.

We have noticed that a little more at the hospital in Oskarshamn, which is a smaller hospital, says Johan Rosenqvist.
