It has long been known to the hotel and restaurant unions and the union that Svenska Spel's casinos have performed poorly.

- Already in June we received signals about it, says Eva-Lotta Ramberg.

- At the turn of August-September, we were told that the opening hours would change.

"The company changed hands"

The casinos went from being open seven days to being open on Wednesdays and Sundays.

In November, the company announced that a number of employees would be dismissed or have fewer hours of employment.

In Malmö, it was about 13 people who were made redundant and 28 who were reassigned to a lower level of employment.

That negotiation was barely finished before the company came up with a new message - now they wanted to close completely in Malmö and Gothenburg and only keep the casino in Stockholm.

- It came as a cold shower that the company completely changed hands, says Eva-Lotta Ramberg.

Critical of management

In total, it is about a hundred people who work at the casino itself and in the restaurant in Malmö.

During Tuesday, they will be informed of the decision.

Tomorrow Svenska Spel has a board meeting where the decision is formally made and then negotiations with the unions begin on Thursday.

The unions do not agree that a closure is necessary.

- We have engaged a business consultant who says that what is needed is a fresh start and a new management, says Eva-Lotta Ramberg.

- The company management has not coped with the situation.

We need a new management that can manage a company in crisis.

Exactly when the casino will close is not clear.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has applied for Svenska Spel who do not want to appear for an interview.

In a written comment, the company writes:

- We never comment on rumours.

Svenska Spel currently has no further comment to give regarding the situation for Casino Cosmopol.

As we previously told you, extensive work is underway to limit the losses in the company.

No decisions have yet been made regarding the future of our casinos.
