The French team won the Bakery World Cup on Monday, ahead of South Korea and Japan, during the Europain trade fair which takes place from January 21 to 24 at Porte de Versailles in Paris.

It has been 16 years since France last stood on the top step of the podium.

France and its crispy baguette, its hot croissants, its sweet pastries... 16 years later, France has just regained its letters of nobility by becoming the world bakery champion on Monday, during the Europain trade fair which is taking place from January 21 to 24 Porte de Versailles in Paris.

A coronation that we owe to three men: Franck Fortier, Fabien Nolay and Xavier Sacriste.

A fencer represented

Franck Fortier d'Ernée de Mayenne, Xavier Sacriste de Lyon and Fabien Nolay de Paris were rewarded for their know-how.

On the theme of sporting events, with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approaching, the three professionals coached by Grégoire Bardet certainly impressed the jury with one of their pieces representing a fencer.

South Korea came second while Japan took third place on the podium.

The competition, which takes place every two years, crowned Taiwan during the last edition in 2022.

“What pride to see this know-how on the roof of the world”

The Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire was delighted with this victory over prestigious and very crunchy,” he wrote.

France, world champion of baking!

It’s been 16 years since this happened.

What pride to see this know-how, emblem of our daily life, on the roof of the world.
