  At 02:09 on January 23, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, and the earthquake was strongly felt in surrounding counties and cities.

  At the press conference, the Xinjiang Emergency Management Department issued a notice stating that three people were killed and four injured in Aheqi County, Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as Kizilsu Prefecture); one person was injured in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture.

As of now, the specific disaster situation is still under further verification, various rescue operations are carried out in an orderly manner, and the society in the earthquake area is stable.

  Jia Jinglei, Deputy Secretary of the Aksu Prefectural Committee and Executive Deputy Commissioner of the Administrative Office of Xinjiang, introduced at the press conference that at present, a comprehensive survey of the counties and cities that felt the earthquake in the Aksu region has been carried out. Four rounds of surveys have been carried out in key areas. All people in the cracks were moved to nearby schools, village committees and other resettlement sites, and daily material supplies were ensured at the same time.

  It is understood that so far, 9,988 people have been affected by the disaster in the Aksu region of Xinjiang, 18 safety points have been set up, 8,700 people have been relocated, 72 people have been evacuated, and 150 tents have been set up.

The housing and construction department visited each household in the village to conduct safety assessments of damaged houses.
