Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that at least 6 people were killed and 73 injured as a result of a Russian missile bombardment that targeted the capital, Kiev, and the cities of Kharkiv and Pavlograd on Tuesday morning.

Zelensky said - on social media - that rescue crews continue to work to find survivors in the targeted areas.

He stated that preliminary information indicated that 22 people were injured in Kiev, 5 were killed in Kharkiv, including 4 children, 51 were injured, and one person was killed in Pavlograd.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov told local television that rescuers dug through the rubble to search for survivors.

He explained that 30 residential buildings were damaged by the missile attacks that occurred early in the morning.

State energy company Naftogaz said a gas pipeline in Kharkiv was also damaged.

The Ministry of Energy stated that electricity was cut off for thousands of residents after the electricity infrastructure was damaged.

In Kiev, 22 people were injured, 13 of whom were taken to hospitals, including 3 children, according to what the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced on Telegram.

The Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior indicated that one person was in a “clinical death case,” but the local authorities in Kiev have not yet confirmed this case of death.

Klitschko pointed out that a building and vehicles were burned in the Sviatoshinsky neighborhood;

An unexploded warhead of a missile was found in one of the apartments.

In the Pechersk district, a fire broke out in a “non-residential” building.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it launched missile strikes on military production facilities in Ukraine and successfully hit all intended targets.

The ministry stated in a statement that the strikes were carried out with missiles from the air and land on facilities that produce missiles, explosives and ammunition.

Russia appeals to parliaments

On the other hand, this winter, Kiev intensified its strikes with missiles and drones on Russian territory, targeting in particular the city of Belgorod.

The Russian Parliament's Duma announced that it voted on Tuesday on a text that appeals to the United Nations and parliaments around the world regarding the criminal attacks launched by Ukraine against civilians on Russian territory.

Two years after the start of the war, which witnessed the destruction of a large number of residential sites, Moscow systematically confirms that it targets military targets exclusively.

On the other hand, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) signed a contract worth 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) on Tuesday to purchase hundreds of thousands of 155 mm artillery shells.

Some of them will be supplied to Ukraine after it complained of a lack of ammunition.

"The war in Ukraine has become a battle of ammunition," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters after the contract signing ceremony at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umarov said last week that what he described as a “thirst for missiles” represented a major problem for Ukrainian forces nearly two years after the all-out Russian invasion.
