In Qiu Zhiliang’s view, only through integrated development will the road become wider and wider.

2024 is Qiu Zhiliang's 14th year in Guiyang. At first, he and his family were engaged in the clothing trade. Because his mother was good at cooking, he and his mother opened the "Baodao Grandma" restaurant 7 years ago. Because the dishes are unique and authentic, Not only has it gained a group of "foodie" fans, it has also become a "canteen" for Taiwanese youth working hard in the local area.

Due to development needs, Qiu Zhiliang began to select a location to open a new store in 2023, and finally he determined the location of the new store in Guanshanhu District, Guiyang City.

"When I first came to Guiyang, it was still a piece of loess. Now it is one of the busiest areas in Guiyang. I moved here from a small shop in the old city and followed the progress and development of Guiyang."

In order to open the new store smoothly, Qiu Zhiliang specially hired Taiwanese celebrity chef Qiu Yiwan as the restaurant's chef to develop creative fusion dishes from Taiwan and Guizhou.

In addition, he hired the head chef of the store from Taiwan, hoping to let more people taste the "Taiwanese taste."

In addition to opening restaurants, Qiu Zhiliang also actively promotes Guizhou's "mountain products".

Currently, he is combining Guizhou's original black-haired pigs with Taiwanese craftsmanship to make Taiwanese sausages and Alishan salted pork, promoting the production of "Guizhou products".

Having started his own business in the mainland for more than ten years, Qiu Zhiliang has not only witnessed the development of the mainland, but also enjoyed the convenience of life and support for entrepreneurship brought by many policies that benefit Taiwan.

In 2022, he received Guizhou's first business license for individual industrial and commercial households from Taiwan residents. "With it, I can open branches so that more people can eat Taiwanese food."

Qiu Zhiliang said that the mainland's implementation of equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots will not only bring development opportunities to Taiwanese youth, but also allow Taiwanese youth to better integrate into the mainland and take root.

Today, Qiu Zhiliang has settled his family in Guiyang, and his two children are also studying in Guiyang.

"People will unconsciously find places similar to their hometown to stay. The mountain city of Guiyang is very similar to my hometown of Miaoli, Taiwan, and it often reminds me of my childhood memories."

From "Treasure Island Grandma" to "Good Uncle Has Guizhou", from Taiwan private cuisine to Guizhou-Taiwan fusion creative cuisine, Qiu Zhiliang hopes to build a communication bridge between Taiwan and Guizhou through food.
