Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Osama Hamdan, said that US President Joe Biden’s talk about an independent Palestinian state is nothing but a political trick aimed at integrating Israel into the region, stressing that this talk is not serious unless the aggression is stopped and the occupation is ended immediately.

Hamdan confirmed - in a press conference from the capital, Beirut - that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s talk about controlling areas west of the Jordan River and his refusal to establish a Palestinian state confirms that there is no party that can force him to reach a political solution.

Hamdan considered that Biden’s talk about the two-state solution is a message of reassurance to those who are betting on normalization or political solutions, saying, “It is a political trick to give the occupation time to continue exterminating the Palestinians, and to beautify its image in order to integrate it into the region while denying the right of the Palestinians to establish their state.”

The Hamas leader reiterated that Biden is responsible for every Palestinian blood shed, and said that his speech does not have any credibility unless he pressures to stop the massacres committed with American weapons, stops supplying Israel with equipment and ammunition, and commits it to an international resolution to end the war and stop the policy of starvation and extermination.

We will only accept a fully sovereign state

He stressed that the Palestinians will only accept an independent, fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees to the homes from which they were displaced, indicating that any solution that does not include these matters will not be successful.

Hamdan also held the United States responsible for the escalation in a number of countries in the region, and said that calm and stability “will not return except by stopping the aggression, ending the occupation, and establishing the Palestinian state.”

He said that the world and decision-makers in the region must think beyond the Netanyahu government and work to get rid of it as a first step to ending the occupation.

He added, "The time has come to cut off the hand of the occupation that is attacking our land, our sanctities, and our entire region, and we will continue our steadfastness until victory over this entity."

Regarding the prisoner exchange deal, Hamdan said that there were many proposals presented in this regard, stressing that “there is no reason for optimism, because Netanyahu lies to his government, to the mediators, and to the families of the prisoners, and aborts all initiatives.”

He stressed Hamas's keenness to save the Palestinians, but said that this "is not possible if Netanyahu and his government continue on this path."

Hamdan said that European countries "are practicing clear malice because everyone talks about Israel's right to defend itself, and when Palestinians deal with Israeli soldiers, they become terrorists."

He added that following the United States "will not help Europe and will bring it more problems," stressing that the American approach "did not help the region overcome any problem because it only helps Israel and is prepared to destroy the region on its behalf."

Commenting on Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen’s proposal to transfer the Palestinians to an artificial island, Hamdan said, “This is the logic of those who do not know the value of the land or the homeland, and the logic of those who have no homeland.”

He concluded by saying that this hadith "confirms that they (the Israelis) do not belong to this land and do not know its value, and this island can be built for him (Cohen) and other settlers. As for us, we are the owners of the land and we will not leave it and we will liberate it as we liberated it from previous invaders."
