In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram temple on Monday, in the city of Ayodhya, in the north of the country, which symbolizes the triumph of his Hindu nationalist policy.

The monument was built on the former site of a mosque, which was demolished by Hindu fanatics in 1992. This destruction, encouraged by members of the ruling party, the BJP, then triggered the worst religious riots in the country since independence, leaving around 2,000 dead.

After the inauguration of the Ram temple, and while many Muslims feel aggrieved, Hindu nationalists now have other mosques and Muslim sites in their sights.
