The murdered 15-year-old boy was found by passers-by at the gate of his house, on the afternoon of June 8.

The boys knew each other from before.

The murdered 15-year-old must have been on his way to a school prom when the 16-year-old, who at the time of the incident was also 15, came to his gate and a fight broke out.

During the fight, the 16-year-old stabbed the 15-year-old boy with a kitchen knife about 40 times.

The 16-year-old has admitted that he handed out the stabbing, but all along denied any crime.

He believes instead that he acted in self-defence and that he was attacked by the boy of the same age.

Do not suffer from mental disorder

But the court believes that the 16-year-old was not subjected to any criminal attack, among other things made clear through witness statements.

Already at the end of the trial in December, the court stated that convincing evidence had been presented that the 16-year-old is guilty.

The district court, however, wanted the 16-year-old to undergo a forensic psychiatric examination before sentencing.

It showed that the boy was not deemed to have suffered from any mental disorder at the time of the crime.

District Court: "Complicated case"

Now the 16-year-old is sentenced for murder.

Because he was only 15, almost 16, at the time of the crime, he is sentenced to three years of closed youth care.

The court writes that the penalty value for an adult would have corresponded to 18 years in prison.

- It has been a complicated goal with difficult assessments.

However, the court agrees with its assessment.

It is an extremely tragic incident where both the victim and the perpetrator are young people, says Acting Chief Councilor Anders Larsson in a comment.

The motive still unclear

The district court states that it is still unclear why the 16-year-old acted as he did.

But that it is clear that he had a so-called intention of indifference, when he left the severely injured 15-year-old to die on the spot.
