Speaking about Germany’s decision to counteract South Africa in the situation with the claim against Israel, Zakharova noted that such a decision is not surprising.
“The decision of the German government to oppose the Republic of South Africa, which filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide of the population of the Gaza Strip, did not surprise us,” states the response posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that the UN court should not hold Israel accountable.
On January 11-12, the International Court of Justice in The Hague held hearings on South Africa's claim against Israel under the genocide convention over the tragedy in Gaza.
