Sarah Ferguson

faces another health nightmare.

The

Duchess of York

has been diagnosed with skin cancer while she is still recovering from a mastectomy she had last year.

She herself revealed the sad news this Sunday through her spokesperson.

"The Duchess of York has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma after receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer in the summer, which was detected in an early stage," the statement said.

It is the third medical discharge that has been reported within the British royal family in recent days.

King

Charles III

will be admitted this week to be treated for benign prostate enlargement, as announced by

Buckingham Palace

last Wednesday the 17th.

That same day, the office of the Princes of Wales announced that

the future Queen Catherine

had undergone abdominal surgery that will require her to stay in bed in a private clinic in London for about ten days.

She is not expected to resume her public duties and commitments until after Easter

.

Fergie,

meanwhile, battles a second malignant tumor in less than a year.

What's more, she was diagnosed with skin cancer after undergoing surgery during reconstructive breast surgery.

Prince Andrew

's ex-wife

followed the advice of the dermatologist team, who asked her to analyze some spots on her body, and, as her spokesperson explained, "one of them turned out to be cancerous."

She is now awaiting the results of new tests in the hope that they will indicate if "she caught it in time."

"Obviously, a new diagnosis so closely followed by breast cancer treatment is distressing but the Duchess remains in good spirits," adds the note published by The

Telegraph newspaper.

Ferguson announced that she had breast cancer in a podcast broadcast last June with the firm desire to raise awareness among other women not to miss any mammograms.

"We must talk about these things," she says in the recording, which she released on the eve of entering a London hospital to undergo the mastectomy.

Now it redoubles the health warning and precaution.

"She believes his experience highlights the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture, as well as the appearance of spots that may be signs of melanoma," he said through his spokesperson.

The duchess shares the family residence in the Windsor complex with Andrés, where her two daughters have grown up and her grandchildren now visit.

This past Christmas she accompanied the kings, princes of Wales and other relatives of her ex to the traditional mass in

Sandringham,

in the east of England.

It was the first time in years that she had appeared in public with prominent members of the

Windsor clan.

These days he is recovering in a clinical spa in

Austria.
