The Argentine government arrested and deported this Friday the family of public enemy number 1 in Ecuador, Adolfo Macias alias “Fito”.

If the leader of the fearsome Choneros gang has still not been captured since his escape from a Guayaquil prison in early January, his family is back in Ecuador and residents fear possible reprisals.

Obviously unwilling to keep the family of a drug trafficker on their soil, the Argentine authorities immediately deported them by military plane to the city of Guayaquil, reports our correspondent in Quito,

Eric Samson

.

At the heavily protected Simon Bolivar Air Base, “ Fito

’s” family

and the four people who accompanied them to Argentina were allowed to freely leave the military installations.

There is in fact no detention order for the wife of Adolfo Macias, whose legal status was promised by Attorney General Diana Salazar.

Aged 48, Inda Mariela Peñarrieta was already the subject of an investigation in 2020 for money laundering, unjustified private enrichment and tax fraud.

A nurse six years ago, Adolfo Macias' wife has indeed become a wealthy businesswoman, not hesitating to show off her luxurious life on social networks.

The three judges who closed the case are also the subject of an investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
