It is NRK that reports on one of the biggest drug cases in Northern Norway's history.

A criminal network is suspected of having smuggled large quantities of narcotics into Norway in the years 2020-2021.

Carried 228 kilos of hash on foot

Among other things, three Norwegian men on foot, several miles over the mountains, are said to have smuggled 228 kilos of hash they received in Kiruna.

During the trial in Nord-Troms district court, which ends on Friday, the men have told about an arduous mountain trip.

"I have felt like a donkey"

Among other things, the plan was to shorten the hike by taking an inflatable boat over Torneträsk, but it could not withstand the weight and suffered a puncture.

- I have felt like a donkey, says one of the suspects during the trial.

After another man in the network was caught with drugs in a routine check, the police were able to unravel the tangle through data from encrypted apps.

13 people who are part of the criminal network now risk prison terms of between 3 and 15 years.
