Weather Storm Juan leaves a weekend with snow and extreme lows, up to 14º below zero
The snow has forced the A-2, Madrid - Zaragoza highway to be closed this Friday, in both directions, from the Centrovía industrial estate, in the Zaragoza town of
La Muela
, to the border with the province of Soria.
This was reported by the Government of Aragon this Friday because adverse weather conditions
prevent circulation in both directions
until further notice.
In addition, the Civil Guard has asked for
"a lot of caution"
throughout the road network in the province of Zaragoza.
In fact, they have pointed out that there are many regional roads affected by snow.
Aragón has activated the
orange or yellow level alert
warning , depending on the locations and intensity of the snow, in large areas of the three provinces.
The snow has reached Zaragoza, where it has covered the city with an unusual white blanket.
The City Council has activated the extraordinary cold plan so that no homeless person sleeps on the street.
It is believed that the Second Division football match between Real Zaragoza and Andorra that was going to be held this Friday
will have to be suspended
due to the nine fall.
Among the numerous incidents caused by Storm Juan, an accident has been recorded in which
up to five vehicles have been involved in Villarreal de Huerva
, in the province of Zaragoza.
As reported by 112,
there are five people injured
, although no deaths are reported.
It happened after 1:00 p.m. this Friday at kilometer of the A-23 highway, at kilometer point 219.
Members of the Civil Guard, 061 and Civil Protection volunteers from Campo de Daroca have traveled to the site.
According to the General Directorate of Traffic, the right lane, in the Teruel direction, remains closed.
Snow affects 31 roads
The snow makes circulation difficult on 31 roads, five of them on the main network, such as the A-2 through the province of Zaragoza.
The road is also impassable near
Alcolea del Pinar
(Guadalajara) and
Medinaceli
(Soria).
The roads of these three provinces and those of
Segovia
are the most affected by the adverse weather this afternoon, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
Traffic has prohibited the passage of trucks and articulated vehicles
on the A-15
and the A-2, in Medinaceli (Soria), roads on which it asks drivers to take extreme caution.
After many truck delays on the
A-1
, at this time it is closed near
Boceguillas
(Segovia).
Due to the heavy rains that hit
Extremadura
, there are three secondary roads closed, including the N-630, in Casas de Don Antonio (Cáceres).
Likewise, the snow makes traffic difficult on the A-66 in
Guijo de Ávila (Salamanca)
.
In addition, several roads in the secondary network of Granada, Cantabria, Burgos, Salamanca and Navarra remain closed due to snow
.
