Events They dismantle a gang that stole luxury watches in Madrid armed with guns aboard motorcycles
Two motorists armed with pistols stole three watches early Thursday morning after
threatening several customers who were on the terrace of the La Mamona restaurant at Paseo de la Castellana, 62,
in the Madrid district of Salamanca and a few meters from the Plaza de Gregorio Marañón.
The events occurred around 3:30 a.m. when there were only a few people left in the glassed-in nightstand.
Two motorcyclists double-parked the motorcycle near the restaurant and
entered with their helmets on the terrace brandishing a small pistol.
According to police, they threatened three customers with a firearm and stole a watch from each of them, one of them a Rolex, and then fled.
The witnesses claim that they had a South American accent and that they were two people between 20 and 30 years old.
The events are being investigated by the Cronos Group of the Madrid Police Headquarters, made up of
17 agents specialized in the theft of luxury watches,
according to Vozpopuli.
This unit recently dismantled an organization dedicated to this type of crimes that used special violence, that focused its activity in wealthy neighborhoods of Madrid and that stole watches worth more than half a million euros.
The five arrested used the
motochorro
method , imported from South America and consisting of, while one of the thieves identifies the potential victim and "marks" him by taking a photograph, his accomplices travel to the place on a motorcycle and commit the robbery. .
