Hu Wenhui said that 2023 is the first year for the full implementation of the spirit of the <>th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, an important year for the implementation of the Outline for Building a Strong Country with Intellectual Property and the <>th Five-Year Plan, and a year for the reform of the intellectual property management system. Over the past year, the national intellectual property system has successfully completed various goals and tasks for the whole year, and the intellectual property work has made steady progress and improved quality, and has achieved heavy results, showing a new atmosphere. Key data on intellectual property rights

(1) Patents

92,1 invention patents, 209.63 million utility model patents and 8,6 design patents were authorized throughout the year. 5,0 patent reexamination cases were concluded, and 77,7 invalidation cases were concluded. 4,1814 PCT international patent applications were accepted. Chinese applicants filed <>,<> international Hague design applications.

By the end of 2023, the effective number of invention patents in China will be 499.1 million. Among them, the effective number of domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) was 401.5 million. The number of high-value invention patents per 11,8 people in China reached <>.<>.

(2) Trademarks

There were 438.3 million registered trademarks throughout the year. Completed the examination of 15,3 trademark opposition cases. Completed the trial of 37,3 trademark review cases. 6196,<> Madrid applications for international trademark registration were received from Chinese applicants.

By the end of 2023, the number of valid trademark registrations in China will be 4614.6 million.

(3) Geographical indications

During the year, 13 geographical indication products were approved, and 201 geographical indications were approved for registration as collective trademarks and certification trademarks. 5842,<> business entities have been approved to use special geographical indications.

(4) Layout design of integrated circuits

The construction of the first batch of 10 national intellectual property protection demonstration zones was launched throughout the year, and the selection and publicity of the second batch of 15 were completed. 8 new intellectual property protection centers and 7 rapid rights protection centers were established, bringing the total number to 112. A total of 21 local sub-centers and 2 overseas sub-centers for overseas intellectual property dispute response guidance were established, bringing the total number to 45. Social satisfaction with intellectual property protection increased to 82.04 points.

(6) The use of intellectual property rights

The registered amount of patent and trademark pledge financing was 8539.9 billion yuan, benefiting 3,7 enterprises. Statistics show that in 2022, the added value of China's patent-intensive industries will be 15.3 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year (before deducting price factors), and the proportion of GDP will rise to 12.7%.

The main features reflected in the data

First, the number of intellectual property rights is increasing. By the end of 2023, the effective number of domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) was 401.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%, exceeding 400 million for the first time. Among them, the number of high-value invention patents was 166.5 million, accounting for 41.5%, an increase of 1.1 percentage points over the previous year. The number of domestic registered trademarks was 4404.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%.

Second, enterprise innovation activities remain active. By the end of 2023, there will be 42,7 enterprises with valid invention patents in China, an increase of 7,2 from the previous year. Domestic enterprises have 290.9 million valid invention patents, accounting for 71.2%, exceeding <>% for the first time, and the main position of innovation is further highlighted.

Third, innovation in the field of digital economy is strong. According to the statistics of 35 technical fields divided by the World Intellectual Property Organization, as of the end of 2023, the top three technical fields in China's domestic effective invention patent growth rate are information technology management methods, computer technology and basic communication procedures, with a year-on-year increase of 59.4%, 39.3% and 30.8% respectively, much higher than the average domestic growth level, indicating that China has maintained a high degree of innovation in the field of digital technology and continues to empower and increase efficiency for the high-quality development of the digital economy.

Fourth, the inclusiveness of pledge financing has been continuously increased. The registered amount of patent and trademark pledge financing was 8539.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 75.4%. There were 4,2 pledge registration projects, a year-on-year increase of 49.2%. Inclusive loans with a pledge amount of less than 1000 million yuan benefited 2,6 small, medium and micro enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 44%. Intellectual property pledge financing has become an important measure for enterprises to revitalize intangible assets, build market advantages, and enhance the momentum of innovation and development.

Fifth, overseas applications for intellectual property rights have been stable and improving. Throughout the year, the PCT international patent applications, Hague design international applications, and Madrid international trademark registration applications submitted by Chinese applicants ranked among the top in the world. Among them, the number of PCT patent applications was basically the same as that of the previous year, and the number of Madrid trademark registration applications increased by 6.3% year-on-year. The analysis shows that the Chinese enterprises with the highest number of PCT international patent applications in the year show a high degree of consistency with the Chinese enterprises with the highest number of Madrid international trademark registration applications, indicating that the awareness of innovation protection and brand protection of Chinese enterprises is increasing, and they pay more attention to the comprehensive layout of intellectual property rights when exploring the international market.
