Former President Donald Trump won the Republican primaries in Iowa, US media estimates showed early Tuesday morning, in a result that consolidated his position at the top of the Republican race for the White House elections scheduled for next November.
CNN and CBS predicted that the former president in the Midwestern state would defeat his main rivals: former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The ballot marks the long trajectory of the upcoming U.S. presidential election, in which Trump is the frontrunner among other Republican candidates to challenge Democratic President Joe Biden.
For the first time since losing his electoral battle for a second consecutive presidential term in 2020, the former US president will face voters, while he is being tried in 4 criminal cases ranging from obtaining top-secret documents to trying to overturn the results of the previous election in which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.
