Regarding the revision of the rules for the export of defense equipment, Mr. Yamaguchi, a representative of the New Komeito Party, expressed the idea that the government should explain whether it is necessary to export equipment jointly developed with other countries to third countries, which has not been concluded in the working-level talks between the LDP and Komeito.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the New Komeito Party (Komeito) have not reached a conclusion on whether to allow the export of equipment jointly developed with other countries to third countries, with a view to the export of fighter jets jointly developed with the United Kingdom and other countries, and the government has asked the ruling party to reach a conclusion by the end of next month.

At a press conference on the 16th, Mr. Yamaguchi pointed out that "Japan's basic approach so far has been not to export equipment with lethal capabilities, and the government has hardly explained to political parties or the public why it is changing its approach."

In addition, he said, "It is necessary to think deeply about the change of joint development in a completely different combination from that between Japan and the United States, which are allies, and the government should respond appropriately," and suggested that the government should explain whether there is a need to export defense equipment to third countries.
