Before travelling to Reunion Island on Wednesday, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that the bodies of two other homeless people had been found after tropical cyclone Belal, bringing the total death toll to three.

The bodies of two other homeless people have been found in Reunion Island after Cyclone Belal struck a devastating cyclone on Monday, bringing the death toll on the French Indian Ocean island to three, Gérald Darmanin said on Tuesday. "Sadly, we have evidently discovered two other bodies believed to be those of homeless people who have refused emergency accommodation. So there were three deaths during this cyclone," said the Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, who was speaking during questions to the government in the National Assembly.
