A woman was killed and at least 13 people were wounded in a vehicular attack in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ra'anana. "The two perpetrators of the attack are relatives, residents of the (Palestinian) territories, and arrived illegally," the Israeli police chief said.

A woman was killed and at least 13 others wounded in a vehicular attack in Israel in the central city of Ra'anana on Monday, emergency services and Israeli police said, adding that they had arrested two Palestinian suspects. Israeli police chief Kobi Shabtai told reporters at the scene that "the two perpetrators of the attack are relatives, residents of the (Palestinian) territories, who arrived illegally" at the scene of the attack.

Woman Died from Injuries

According to the police spokesman, they live in Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, and are suspected of stealing a car before running over passers-by at several sites in this Tel Aviv suburb. The Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba said an "injured, admitted in critical condition, died despite resuscitation efforts." The emergency services reported that at least 13 people were injured, at least two of whom were in serious condition.

Tensions in Israel and the Palestinian territories have escalated since the unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7, which killed 1,140 people in southern Israel, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli data.

In retaliation, Israel has vowed to annihilate Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007. In the Gaza Strip, the conflict has killed more than 24,000 people, mostly women, teenagers and children, according to the latest toll from the Health Ministry of Hamas, which has been described as a "terrorist organization" by Israel, the United States and the European Union.
