It was just after midnight, on the night of Sunday, that a 16-year-old boy was found bloody outdoors at an underpass in Örkelljunga. He was taken to hospital, but later died.

Several people are said to have been at the scene, including the boy's girlfriend. Shortly after that, two teenagers of the same age were arrested and detained on suspicion of murdering the 16-year-old.

But on Sunday evening, one of them was released.

"I can confirm that on Sunday, two people were arrested, one of them has been released and the other person is still in custody," says public prosecutor Helene Jacobsson.

Reticent about what happened

Whether the person was released on Sunday evening, is completely written off from the case or is still in some way suspected of being involved is not something the prosecutor wants to comment on.

"We are just at the beginning and there are several investigative measures that will now be taken. There will be interrogations with people, but otherwise I don't want to go into that now, says Helene Jacobsson.

The teenager who is still in custody must be requested to be detained no later than Wednesday 17 January.
