Lavrov blamed the West for global unrest (Reuters)

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the need to break the vicious cycle of violence in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stressing the importance of lifting the "injustice" that Palestinians have suffered for generations.

In an exclusive interview with TASS news agency on the 2023 results, Lavrov said that "it is unacceptable to justify terrorist attacks" and at the same time unacceptable "responding to them with methods of collective punishment in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."

He added that it was necessary to break the vicious cycle of violence and eliminate the injustice suffered by many generations of Palestinians, "only in this way can stability be achieved in the confrontation zone of the entire Middle East."

The Russian foreign minister noted that it was Washington's path of monopolizing mediation efforts and undermining the international legal framework for a settlement that led to the current escalation in the conflict zone.

He stressed that the Russian side does not have any behind-the-scenes discussions on this conflict and always acts openly.

He said that all talk about the future of the Gaza Strip is based on various kinds of leaks and rumors, expressing concern based on the information received that the United States wants once again to impose its approach, which has nothing to do with international law, as was the case in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and many other countries and regions that have been devastated as a result of Washington's adventures.

The Russian foreign minister added that Moscow will focus primarily on the opinion of the Palestinians themselves, as well as the opinion of regional partners.

The responsibility of the West

On the other hand, Lavrov blamed the West for the global turmoil, saying that "storms continue in the world, and one of the reasons is that the ruling circles in the West provoke crises thousands of kilometers from their borders in order to solve their issues at the expense of other peoples."

The deterioration in arms control was caused by the destabilizing policy and actions of the United States.

Lavrov also noted that the United States is "deliberately increasing tensions in the field of international security," stressing that "these processes are closely interrelated."
