Every morning, Jean Zeid delivers the best in terms of innovation. This Tuesday, he is interested in the startup Le Jouet Simple, which manufactures early learning toys in mono-material and recycled plastic in order to last as long as possible and which practices the deposit system.

This Tuesday morning, we're talking about toys, it's in season.
And it's not just Vinted or Leboncoin to land an eco-friendly gift.
Since 2021, Santa Claus also gets his supplies from Le Jouet Simple, a French start-up that faces against wind and tide the challenge of the "green"
toy More than 40 million toys are thrown away each year in France, a very official figure from the Toy Federation which estimates that a toy is played on average for 8 months. Well, you didn't need to study to know that, you just have to be a mom or dad.
And this is even more true in babies.
Yes. Rattles, toy trains, shape puzzles, early learning games from 0 to 4 year olds have an even shorter duration. The problem is that all these toys, apart from those made of wood, are poorly recycled, due to mixtures of different plastics that prevent industrialized reuse.
What is the idea behind the Simple Toy?
Its positioning is all about babies and eco-responsibility. The Jouet Simple workshops are located in the Ain department. This is where the company manufactures early learning toys made of mono-material and recycled plastic with the aim of lasting as long as possible, long after Santa Claus has passed. The other concept is the deposit. The start-up has developed a deposit system that works with a QR code and makes it possible to make the Toys Simple once the child has grown up. It doesn't matter whether you buy online or at the various points of sale. That's what eco-design is all about: thinking about the end from the beginning.
And how much does the customer get back?
When the toy returns, it recovers 15% of the sale
price What if the toy is too damaged?
The customer gets his 15% and the toy is crushed and the result is reused to produce another one, quite simply. To facilitate the recycling of its products, Le Jouet Simple does not use glue, screws or stickers and restricts itself to four soft colors to facilitate the product recycling process.
If the toy is in good condition, it is reconditioned and put back into the second-hand circuit. The goal here is to reduce plastic production as much as possible. Le Jouet Simple is also working on setting up a network of collection terminals.
