There is a large crowd in front of Newport School. Here, voters mobilized early, very early even: some have been here since 5:45 a.m. Most of them wait, an X-ray in hand, in the shade, to protect themselves from the sun that is already beating down hard. Voting began at 8 a.m. local time.
The election materials were already there. "The whole team slept here, in this school, to monitor the election materials," said the polling station president, a sign of the importance given to security around this election day.

Here, the election is well organised: the elderly and disabled voted first. "It's important for me to exercise my right to vote," says John, who is in his fifties.
There are also a lot of people in line. Among them is 19-year-old Joseph. He hopes that "this election will take place peacefully and will put an end to the crises" in Liberia.
