Chinanews.com, November 11 According to the WeChat official account of the National Security Office in Hong Kong, the spokesperson of the National Security Office in Hong Kong issued a statement on November 5, saying that a small number of politicians in the United States have once again manipulated political issues in recent days, adopted intimidation methods, and clamored to include 11 Hong Kong judges, prosecutors and government officials on the so-called "sanctions" list, which the National Security Office in Hong Kong strongly condemns and resolutely opposes, and resolutely supports the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in fulfilling its duties of safeguarding national security in accordance with the law, and unswervingly upholds the authority of the Hong Kong National Security Law.

The spokesman pointed out that Hong Kong is a society governed by the rule of law, and the Central Government supports Hong Kong in maintaining the common law system and the steady operation of the constitutional order of the HKSAR based on the Constitution and the Basic Law. Since the implementation of the National Security Law, the HKSAR's governance team has been loyal and courageous, fearless of sanctions, and resolutely shouldered the constitutional responsibility for the full implementation of the National Security Law. The law enforcement departments of the SAR have always performed their duties in accordance with the law and vigorously cracked down on criminal acts that endanger national security by a very small number of people. The Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) has always been based on facts, strictly controlled the evidence and the law, and made prosecution decisions in accordance with the law. The judicial organs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) have independently exercised their judicial power and conducted trials and judgments in an open, fair and impartial manner in accordance with the law, effectively safeguarding the dignity of the rule of law and effectively safeguarding the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong citizens.

The spokesman said that since July last year, a small number of US politicians have harbored evil intentions, frequently concocted bills, smeared and attacked Hong Kong's judicial system, repeated the same old tune under the guise of so-called "human rights in Hong Kong", further brandished the big stick of sanctions against Hong Kong judges and prosecutors, completely ignored international law and basic norms governing international relations, blatantly trampled on law and justice, interfered in the internal affairs of other countries, and falsely threatened and intimidated, with the aim of interfering with the normal law enforcement, prosecution and trial work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, obstructing the effective implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, and vainly attempting to enable anti-China and destabilizing elements to escape legal punishmentto bring Hong Kong back to chaos. Facts have proven that no matter how many such bullying sanctions are indiscriminate, they will be a piece of waste paper, and they will never shake the will and determination of the central authorities and the SAR to safeguard national security in accordance with the law. Under the strong leadership of the Central Government, under the strong protection of the Constitution, the Basic Law and the National Security Law, and with the concerted efforts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Office of National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and all sectors of society, the HKSAR will firmly defend the rule of law in Hong Kong and ensure that the cause of "one country, two systems" is as solid as a rock without fear of any threats and intimidation.

The spokesman stressed that the Office for National Security in Hong Kong is highly vigilant against attempts by external forces to interfere in Hong Kong affairs and undermine the rule of law in the HKSAR, and will further promote the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, take all necessary means and measures to effectively prevent, stop and punish all acts and activities endangering national security, firmly support the HKSAR Government and the judicial and prosecutorial organs of the HKSAR in exercising their functions and powers in accordance with the law, and work with the HKSAR to build a strong line of defense for safeguarding national security in Hong Kong.
