Following the investigation into municipal employees in Sundsvall using the municipality's cars privately, two changes are being introduced.

It is partly about a guideline for car use that has been developed and applies for the first time to the entire municipality and all municipal companies. The municipality has also introduced a new system for mileage logs.

Investigated deviations

The municipality's investigation shows that more than 80 drivers may have used the cars incorrectly during 2020-2022.

60 of them still work in the municipality and will now be investigated further.

Costs of control

What's new is the GPS recording itself.

The cost of the new mileage log system amounts to SEK 3,200 per vehicle and approximately SEK 85 per month in license costs.

The work of doing manual spot checks corresponds to about 2-3 working days per month.

In the video above, Maria Cederberg shows how the technology works in one of the municipality's vehicles in the car pool.
