The weather Saturday will be very disturbed, rainy and windy over a large northwestern quarter and an orange vigilance waves-submersion and / or floods will be in force in nine coastal departments, according to the forecasts of Météo-France.

The departments concerned by the risk of waves-submersion are Finistère (29), Morbihan (56), Loire-Atlantique (44), Vendée (85), Charente-Maritime (17) and Pas-de-Calais (62) for the high tide on Saturday afternoon, with also an orange alert at the beginning of the night.

A flood watch is in progress for the departments of Finistère (29), Charente-Maritime (17), Gironde (33), Landes (40) and Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64). In the morning, the northern half will see a lot of showers. They will be locally thundery over the northwestern quarter. Then a new active rain disturbance will arrive through Brittany.

Strong winds of more than 100km/h

It will spread rapidly to the north-west quarter with intense rainfall at times, then it will slowly sink into the interior of the country, extending in the evening from the Charentes to the north-eastern borders. To the rear, showers will be active, especially on the Channel coasts. From the south of Aquitaine to the south-east, the weather will remain away from the disturbances with beautiful sunny spells.

The southwesterly wind will be strong over a large northwesterly quarter, with gusts of up to 70 to 90 km/h inland and locally up to 100 km/h. We can fear violent gales localized at more than 100 km/h near the coast from southern Brittany to the Vendée. Strong gusts of up to 100 km/h or more will be expected over the western half of the Pyrenees. The Autan wind will remain moderate.

Homogeneous temperatures over most of the country

Temperatures will be quite cool in the early morning in Occitanie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and PACA, count 2 to 8 degrees, locally a small frost possible, it will however be milder on the Mediterranean coast.

Over the rest of the country, temperatures will be homogeneous, in the range of 8 to 10 degrees. In the afternoon, the thermometer will read 13 to 18 degrees over the northern two-thirds and up to 20 to 22 degrees further south.
