The White House said it could not speak about the case and circumstances of the killing of Al Jazeera correspondent Wael al-Dahdouh's family, and expressed its condolences over the loss of several family members.

He said that targeting journalists is unacceptable, and that President Joe Biden believes in their role, their work and the danger they are exposed to.

"Al Jazeera is a global network, and we appreciate its work and the role it plays," he said, adding that "Al Jazeera's voice is valuable, has an impact on the entire region and is a global network."

For its part, the "National Press Club" expressed its shock and sadness to hear the news of the martyrdom of members of the family of colleague Wael Al-Dahdouh.

The club added in a statement that colleague Wael was broadcasting live reports of an Israeli air strike when he learned on air that his wife, son, daughter and grandson were killed.

The killing of members of Wael Dahdouh's family clearly highlights the fact that the families of journalists suffer the same risks.

The National Press Club stressed that bombs and rockets dropped on Gaza kill and injure civilians, and discriminate against anyone.

Israel's Channel 13 Palestine affairs editor Zvi Yehezkili said the family of Al Jazeera correspondent in the Gaza Strip Wael Dahdouh was the target of Israeli army bombardment, stressing that they knew exactly what they were beating.

The Israeli analyst confirmed that the targets that are being bombed are known to the army, adding, "For example, the target today was the family of an Al Jazeera correspondent."

During his son Mahmoud's bidding, Dahdouh said it was revenge for his children.

Less than a day after his wife, son, daughter, grandson and several other members of his family were killed in Israeli shelling, Al Jazeera's correspondent in the Gaza Strip, Wael al-Dahdouh, insisted on returning to covering the Israeli aggression and brutal bombardment of the residents of the Palestinian Strip.

On Thursday, the people of Gaza mourned some members of the family of colleague Wael and a number of other members of the Dahdouh family in a cemetery in Gaza, after they were killed on Wednesday evening in an Israeli air strike targeting a house they were displaced to in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
