The head of Chechnya noted that in recent years the journalist had been seriously ill, but steadfastly fought the disease and found the strength to continue working on another book.
"His passing is a great and painful loss. For me, first of all, he was an outstanding son of the Chechen people, who from the first days showed himself to be a devoted and faithful companion of my beloved father," Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.
The former press secretary of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, Alvi Karimov, died at the age of 73.
The cause of Karimov's death was not disclosed.
On October 10, it became known that the head of the Podolsk urban district of the Moscow region, Dmitry Zharikov, died.
