The famous Iranian actress Hanieh Tavassoli has been arrested and then released on bail. This was reported by the newspaper »Shargh« on Telegram on Sunday.

Previously, the newspaper »Etemad« had picked up a message from Tannaz Tavassoli: The sister of the actress wrote on Instagram that the 44-year-old had been arrested on Saturday evening. Hanieh Tavassoli's own Instagram presence with two million followers is still unreachable.

What the judiciary of the Iranian regime accuses the actress of is not yet known. In January, Tavassoli had announced on Instagram that she would boycott the state-run Fajr film festival in Tehran, and also announced her support for the wave of protests led by women in the fall of 2022. Like her, several actresses who had shown solidarity with the movement had fallen into the crosshairs of the judiciary.

Arrests on the anniversary

Trigger of the great wave of protests under the slogan "Zan. Zendegi. Azadi.« ("Women. Life. Freedom.«) was the death of the young Iranian Kurdish Jina Mahsa Amini, which celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday. Amini had died in hospital after being arrested by the so-called morality police for violating Islamic dress codes. On the anniversary, Iranian forces had tried to prevent new protests with strict security measures. There were also arrests.

According to activists, a memorial service planned by Amini's family at her grave was also prevented. According to several human rights organizations, Amini's father was temporarily detained on Saturday as he left his home and warned not to hold a memorial service. Subsequently, he was detained at home.

Thousands of people showed their solidarity in several German cities on Saturday. There were rallies in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and other cities.
