Virginie Girod SEASON 2023 - 202405h00, September 12, 2023

Continue to discover the history of La Goulue, the most famous dancer of French Cancan! At the age of 16, La Goulue's career as a dancer was launched. She meets Lucienne Beuze, professional dancer and queen of cancan. It is with her that La Goulue learns the essential figures of the French cancan. Because yes, the cancan is a very codified dance! The dancer then performs on stage, when she is spotted by the managers of a brand new show establishment that will open in a few months... This is none other than the Moulin Rouge. La Goulue will reign on the place for 6 years. In 1895, La Goulue was 29 years old. She is exhausted from these years of dancing, and she is pregnant. The dancer withdraws from the stage, and invests in a fairground hut to continue the show. But this is the end of its great success. La Goulue returned one last time to the Moulin Rouge in 1925, at the age of 59, for a final farewell.
