At the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, one of the world's three major film festivals, Ryusuke Hamaguchi's "Evil Does Not Exist" won the "Grand Jury Prize", which is equivalent to the Silver Lion Award, which is the highest award, the Golden Lion.

The 80th Venice International Film Festival in Venice, northern Italy, was held on the 9th, the final day of the festival, and the awards were announced, including the competition for the Golden Lion, the highest award.

And Ryusuke Hamaguchi's feature film "Evil Does Not Exist" won the "Jury Grand Prize", which is equivalent to the Silver Lion Award after the Golden Lion Award.

"Evil Does Not Exist" tells the story of a plan to build camp accommodation near the village rich in nature where the protagonist lives, and it becomes clear that this will affect the water resources and ecosystem of the village.

At the award ceremony, Director Hamaguchi expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks to the efforts of all the cast and crew, we received this wonderful award."

In 2021, Hamaguchi won major awards at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany and the Cannes Film Festival in France, which means that he won awards at all three major film festivals in the world.

The Golden Lion was also presented to Greek's Yorgos Lanthimos' "The Pathetic Ones."
