A school bus caught fire on Monday in Montalba-le-Château, a town in the Pyrénées-Orientales located about thirty kilometers west of Perpignan.

The driver was able to stop his vehicle and get the 33 children traveling on board, after being alerted to the presence of thick black smoke.

After ensuring that all the children were out of the vehicle, the driver then pulled them to safety.

The bus was completely ablaze when help arrived

When paramedics arrived, the car had burst into flames.

The 23 firefighters of the Sdis of the Pyrénées-Orientales mobilized, extinguished the fire and examined the passengers.

None of them appeared to have been injured or to have been inconvenienced by toxic fumes.
