Weyarn (dpa / lby) - A truck loaded with steel pipes burned out on Autobahn 8 in the Miesbach district.

The 44-year-old driver heard a loud bang from the engine compartment on Wednesday morning shortly before the Weyarn junction, the police said.

He then steered the truck onto the deceleration lane.

When he left his cab, he said the first flames were already breaking out from under the tractor.

The fire then quickly spread to the entire truck.

Only a skeleton remained of the tractor-trailer.

During the extinguishing work, two lanes of the A8 in the direction of Munich were closed.

There were no disabilities.

The driver was unharmed.

The police estimate the damage at around 185,000 euros.
