Danish handball players, Olympic and reigning world champions, qualified for the semi-finals of the 2021 World Cup in Egypt, overcoming the Egyptian hosts after a 7-meter jets session on Wednesday at the start of evening in Cairo.

The two teams could not decide after the 60 minutes of regulation play, nor after two periods of two times five minutes of overtime (35-35, 80th) and had to go through the session of the 7-meter jets, won 4 to 3 by Denmark, after a completely crazy match.

In the semi-final, the Danes will face the winner of the quarter-final between Norway and Spain, who face off in the evening (8:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. GMT).

The other two quarter-finals pit France against Hungary and Sweden against Qatar, two matches also scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m. GMT).
