Mainz (dpa / lrs) - According to the Ministry of Health, the hospitals in Rhineland-Palatinate have received 66 million euros in compensation payments for the special charges in the Corona crisis since mid-November.

According to the federal government's draft ordinance presented last week, the procedure has been adjusted and extended by one month to February 28, 2021, the ministry said.

The compensation payments served to ensure the economic stability, efficiency and liquidity of the hospitals in order to ensure the supply of the population, it said.

In a first such procedure between March and September 2020, around 464 million euros have already been paid out to hospitals.

According to the information, the current draft ordinance of the Federal Ministry of Health provides, among other things, that other hospitals receive financial support.

It is about clinics that specialize in lung or heart diseases and the treatment of long-term ventilated people, if these are necessary to ensure the inpatient care of Covid 19 patients.
