Several different associations, including the association Födelsehuset and the Föda lugnt network, are behind the name collection, which now has 30,000 signatures.

The issue has already been investigated and assessed after a motion in the regional council.

The assessment was that this should not be introduced in the region.

And the reasons are several according to Jonas Andersson, (L), chairman of the health and medical care board in Västra Götaland.

- These are quality reasons, staffing reasons, work environment reasons and financial reasons.

This model probably requires that we have more midwives who will work more on-call time and on-call time and that will cost.

"Cheaper care with equally good results"

But this is something that the doctor and member of the association Födelsehuset, Hanna de Maré, does not agree with.

She believes that the decision must be reconsidered.

- It has been shown in England that it will be cheaper care with equally good medical results.

Technically, it can be solved because it exists in Denmark, England and also in Stockholm, she says and adds:

- If you can solve that, then the Västra Götaland region should also be able to solve it.
