Erbach / Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - The police have caught a truck driver in the Odenwald who is said to have driven around 1900 kilometers without mandatory breaks.

The 22-year-old man had not properly documented his trip from southern Hesse to Italy and back, as the police in Darmstadt announced on Monday.

The officials therefore ordered a compulsory nine-hour break.

In addition, after the inspection on Friday at Erbach (Odenwaldkreis), the driver had to leave a security deposit of 1250 euros.

According to the police, the 22-year-old had not recorded his journeys for 28 days.
