Hanover (dpa / lni) - The first corona rapid tests in the Lower Saxony state parliament did not detect any infections.

On Friday, 291 people were tested by 12 noon, as a state parliament spokesman announced on request.

"There was no positive case."

The administration does not know how many people were in the state parliament building.

The members of the state parliament and their employees have been able to get tested for the corona virus free of charge since Friday before the plenary sessions.

Journalists can also use the offer.

The result should be available after 15 minutes.

The President of the Landtag, Gabriele Andretta, explained the measure by stating that, in coordination with the parliamentary groups, it was necessary to increase the protective measures.

The tests are voluntary and the state parliament bears the costs.
