Hochgurgl (dpa / lby) - A major fire broke out in a motorcycle museum in the Tyrolean Ötztal on Monday night.

The emergency services did not assume that people would be injured, but significant property damage was feared.

The cause of fire was unclear for the moment.

Due to the current lockdown in Austria, all areas of the museum were closed.

In the "Motorcycle Museum" at the Top Mountain Crosspoint in Hochgurgl, according to the company's own description, over 230 historic motorcycles from more than 100 manufacturers as well as some automobile rarities are exhibited on 3000 square meters.

In addition, the spacious building near the Italian border has a restaurant, a lift station and the Timmelsjoch toll station.
