Several of the ice rinks in the municipality are opening this weekend, but not quite everywhere it had still frozen as desired.

In Sandsbro, several people were busy flushing water on the proposed track on Saturday.

But at Pilbäcksskolan, the ice was ready for skiers.

- It feels good because the training has been canceled and then it is good that you can be here when they have finally flushed, says Ville Nyman, 11 years old, who is a hockey goalkeeper.

Important for children and young people

With the corona pandemic, many sports clubs have stopped training for children and young people.

It therefore feels extra important for the municipality to, with the help of non-profit forces, be able to offer activities for that target group.

- From a public health perspective, the activities of children and young people are important and therefore it feels good that we have been able to do this.

Before we started flushing, we anchored the decision with, among other things, infection control doctors, says Jon Malmqvist (KD), chairman of the culture and leisure committee.

According to the weather forecast, however, the cold looks to be short-lived as plus temperatures are expected again already in the middle of next week.

- It has not been so cold lately so it's nice to be here.

I have longed to ride a lot, says Isabelle Bobinac, 12 years old.
