December 24, 2020A completely unusual announcement has been posted on the largest Russian classifieds site Avito.

A private individual was offering for sale the Russian Orthodox Church of Dmitry Solunsky (Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki), located in the province of Tula, in central European Russia, 193 kilometers south of Moscow.

The cult building dating back to the 19th century, placed under the protection of the state since 1969, in recent years has passed into private ownership and was used as a goods warehouse.

The owner went bankrupt and put the 166 square meter building up for sale.

The starting price was 450 thousand rubles (equivalent to 5 thousand euros), but in the end the church was sold for just over 2 thousand euros.

There was only one participant in the auction, a Muscovite, who won the lot.
