Egypt confirms its support for a comprehensive political settlement to the Syrian crisis

Yesterday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received the head of the Syrian opposition Al-Ghad Movement, Ahmed Al-Jarba.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, stated that the meeting aimed to discuss developments in the Syrian crisis and ways to settle it, based on Security Council Resolution 2254.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Syrian crisis that "restores security and stability to sisterly Syria, preserves the unity and integrity of its territories, fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people and preserves its capabilities, in a way that contributes to uprooting the roots of terrorism and confronting terrorist and extremist organizations."
