The frigate of the Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" after modernization began to test new types of weapons, according to the Information Support Department of the Primorsky Region (Vladivostok) of the RF Ministry of Defense.

In particular, the ship fired from A-190 and AK-630 artillery mounts.

The torpedo armament was also tested.

“At the current stage, the crew, together with industry representatives, have begun testing new types of weapons installed on the frigate.

In the Gulf of Peter the Great (Sea of Japan -

), a complex of artillery firing at air and sea targets was carried out for the first time, "the website of the Russian Defense Ministry says.

"More powerful unit"

The renovation works of Marshal Shaposhnikov were carried out at the facilities of Dalzavod Ship Repair Center JSC (Vladivostok).

According to the military department, the vessel "carried out repairs of the seabed and outboard fittings, replaced part of the hull structures, mounted new equipment and installed modern strike missile systems."

As noted at Dalzavod, the deep modernization of Marshal Shaposhnikov led to a change in the appearance of the ship and made it possible to extend its service life.

"A project of this scale is being implemented for the first time in Russia ... After a deep modernization at Dalzavod Ship Repair Center, the ship (Marshal Shaposhnikov) will become a frigate and will represent a more powerful combat unit," the company's website says.

In addition to new missile and artillery weapons, more advanced auxiliary mechanisms, a power unit, a steering gear, communication, detection and navigation equipment were installed on the Marshal Shaposhnikov.

From the information presented at the Dalzavod stand, it follows that Marshal Shaposhnikov received a fairly powerful electronic weapon.

It includes several radar stations (radar), the Sigma combat information and control system, the TK-25 electronic warfare (EW) system, the SOI 5P-30P radar information processing system, the Tulpan-V1 helicopter landing complex, and a universal fire control system ship artillery MR-123-02 / 3 "Bagheera".

However, the main feature of the updated "Marshal Shaposhnikov" was the universal shipborne firing complex 3S14 (UKSK), which allows the launch of "Caliber", "Onyx", hypersonic "Zircons" and anti-submarine guided missiles of the "Answer" complex.

Experts noted that the Far Eastern specialists actually transformed Marshal Shaposhnikov from a large anti-submarine ship (BOD) into a multifunctional frigate with modern missile and artillery weapons.

In particular, "Marshal Shaposhnikov" was able to use cruise missiles.

The second ship of Project 1155, which can undergo transformation from a BOD into a frigate, is the BOD "Admiral Vinogradov", also serving in the Pacific Fleet.

According to Izvestia's information, as a result of a deep modernization, the Admiral Vinogradov should receive even more powerful weapons than those installed on the Marshal Shaposhnikov.

In particular, the Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile and artillery complex (ZRAK) may appear on the deck of the ship.

This air defense system is equipped with two 30-mm six-barreled automatic cannons GSh-6-30 and eight rocket launchers.

Such an arsenal allows you to deal with all types of air targets at a distance of up to 20 km and at an altitude of up to 15 km.

The founder of the MilitaryRussia portal Dmitry Kornev considers it appropriate to install Pantsir-M on the ships of the Navy.

According to him, the complex significantly increases the air defense capabilities of Russia's naval platforms.

Now "Pantsir-M" is installed on small missile ships of project 22800 "Karakurt", and in the future it is planned to equip them with frigates of project 22350.

"Pantsir-M" is a modification of the land complex of the same name, which received a successful baptism of fire in Syria.

As I understand it, the ship's version has absorbed the best of it.

The main advantage of the Pantsir family is the ability to fire both anti-aircraft and cannon weapons, "explained Kornev RT.

From the data presented in September at the Dalzavod information stand, it follows that as a result of modernization, the Admiral Vinogradov can be equipped with a small-sized package torpedo complex, a Shtil-1 multichannel anti-aircraft missile system, Mineral radar, Puma "," Positive "and" Furke "with an information processing system.

As expected at the enterprise, "Admiral Vinogradov" will be able to use hypersonic missiles, twice the ammunition load of anti-ship ammunition, and with the installation of "Packet" the ship's anti-torpedo protection will be improved.

According to the calculations of engineers, with the new arsenal, the combat potential of the "Admiral Vinogradov" will double in comparison with the current level.

The ability to use helicopters

According to Russian media sources, other large anti-submarine ships of Project 1155 can also expect a radical upgrade. Among the closest "contenders" are the "Admiral Panteleev", "Admiral Tributs" and "Admiral Levchenko".

These ships were built in the 1980s and are in need of, as experts believe, a radical update.

The transformation of naval platforms into multifunctional frigates is the most optimal scenario for modernization and extension of service life, analysts say.

Viktor Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of Arsenal Otechestvo magazine, also believes that the modernization of Project 1155 ships is “timely and useful” for the Russian fleet.

According to him, the displacement and dimensions of the BOD allow the installation of a wide range of new weapons.

“Project 1155 was very successful.

The main power plant provides quite high speed - about 30 knots (55.56 km / h).

In addition, the 1155 project has great autonomy.

But the armament of these ships really needs to be changed, which, in fact, was done on the Marshal Shaposhnikov, ”said Murakhovsky.

The expert drew attention to the important advantage of the upgraded Project 1155 ship, namely, the possibility of using helicopters.

According to Murakhovsky, rotorcraft are necessary for the frigate's missile systems for over-the-horizon target designation.

“Today it is difficult to say how many ships of Project 1155 will be updated.

But if we manage to modernize a few more units, it will be a good help for our Navy, since we will get powerful ships of the ocean zone for relatively little money, ”Murakhovsky summed up.
