Last week, the building committee decided that new detailed plans will be drawn up for two areas at the sculpture park at Umedalen in Umeå.

Balticgruppen, in collaboration with Fastighetsbolaget Gazette, which they own together with VK media, wants to build homes where there are sculptures today.

Something that worries gallery owner Stefan Andersson.

- You will have to remove some of the works of art.

Some of them are made by the artist of the place, they can not be moved.

The birch is as much a part of the work of art as the sculpture.

Shout at the wolf well in advance

From the Baltic Group's side, it is thought that the issue has gained too large proportions far too quickly.

- This question went away in a way I do not recognize myself in. And it's a bit like shouting at the wolf very, very far in advance.

We at Balticgruppen care about the sculpture park and think that it adds a lot.

We must, of course, be responsive and careful and relate to the sculptures, says Björn Johansson, head of development at Balticgruppen.

- It is good that people hear from you, but it is far too early to start talking about this right now.

The planning matter is several years away, says Björn Johansson.

The picture shows a proposal drawn up by the Baltic Group with the help of an architectural firm.

The picture is an early draft and it is not certain that this will be the final result.

At the top of the picture is the IKSU spa.
