Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Immediately before the start of Advent, the Hamburg Senate is today advising on a tightening of the Corona containment ordinance.

The subject of the planned special session is the resolutions that the Prime Ministers of the federal states with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) made on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the partial lockdown is to be extended until December 20 for the time being.

In future, only a maximum of five people from two households will be allowed to come together at private gatherings.

Children up to 14 years of age are excluded.

This regulation is to be relaxed over Christmas.

Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) said on Wednesday that up to ten people are allowed at private gatherings from December 23 to January 1.

The Senate must also decide on restrictions on New Years Eve.

The private fireworks are to be banned in particularly busy places such as the Jungfernstieg or the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken.

The resolutions are to be announced in the afternoon at a press conference.
