At the same time, Stoltenberg expressed his hope for close cooperation with Biden.

Earlier, a number of media outlets, including CNN, AP, NBC and Fox News, announced Biden's victory in the US presidential election.

Biden later declared himself the winner of the presidential election.

Biden has already been congratulated on his victory by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Fijian Prime Minister Frank Mbainimarama, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German and Austrian Chancellors Angela Merkel and Sebastian Kurz, as well as the heads of Greece and Belgium Kyriakos Alexander Mitsotakis and De Cro.
