October 30, 2020A confrontation, where essentially "everyone remained in their positions" and no decision was made.

The majority summit between Giuseppe Conte, the heads of delegation and the Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina on the school dossier has ended.

The meeting had been requested by Azzolina herself, in agreement with the premier, to take stock of the dossier after the more restrictive measures, with the introduction of the DAD, fielded by various Regions.

"For the government the school is a fundamental garrison", confirm sources of Palazzo Chigi at the end of the meeting.

"On the school, it will be decided when the government will opt for further anti-Covid measures", explain qualified government sources without specifying how much the premier will pass to the new squeeze.

"It could be tomorrow, in a week or in two weeks", explain the same sources.

The M5S, it is emphasized, remains the most firm on the line of lessons in presence at school.

"We need to understand what open schools means. On the first cycle we are still confident, in high school we understood that we will go a lot in Dad", explains an M5S government source.

The theme, however, is that the horizon of the new closures appears, in these hours, closer and the range of time that Conte had chosen to take - about ten days - could drastically shorten.

For now, it will be up to the Regions to take the burden and "the honor" of the decision on the school.

The fate of the school is closely linked to the type of lockdown that the government will put in place, if the infections continue to grow exponentially: if it will be a national lockdown - softer than in March - or will it be local mini-lockdowns for areas most at risk.

And it is not excluded that the government will return to confront itself in the next few hours.
