Some 810 kilograms of cannabis resin and several weapons, including a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, were seized by the gendarmes in a hangar on the outskirts of Perpignan (South), said the national gendarmerie.

Informed by their colleagues in Cergy-Pontoise (Paris region), the Montpellier gendarmes are investigating "a criminal network of importing narcotics from Spain to France," said a statement.

They carried out "numerous surveillance and monitoring activities allowing them to identify a man receiving large quantities of narcotic products in a hangar located in the suburbs of Perpignan".

Two people arrested

And on October 26, investigators "materialize" two unloadings in the monitored hangar.

An operation was triggered allowing the arrest of two traffickers and the seizure of 810 kg of cannabis resin, 34,000 euros in cash as well as several weapons including an AK-47 (Kalashnikov) type assault rifle.
